Mahesh Murthy

Speaking

Keynote Speaker

Forty years of stories. Six topics. One rule: no slides full of bullet points.

Mahesh Murthy speaks at technology, marketing, startup, and space conferences globally. Past stages include Gitex in Dubai, Nasscom in India, and Space Week in Hamburg. He is available for keynotes, panel discussions, and conference moderation from Dubai.

Most conference speakers have one story. Mahesh has forty years of them — and they span industries, continents, and decades that most audiences have only read about.

He started selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door in India in 1983. He designed the early version of Yahoo! and helped launch Amazon.com from a Silicon Valley office in the late nineties. He turned around Channel V — MTV's competitor — from 90% losses to near-profitability in under two years. He founded Pinstorm, pioneered performance marketing in India, backed redBus before anyone was certain the Indian internet had a future, and put India's first private satellites into orbit in 2019.

The talks that get the best response are the ones that connect real events to audience decisions. Not frameworks. Not slide decks borrowed from McKinsey. The argument, the data, and the story — in that order.

Topics range from brand strategy and digital marketing, which he has done for four decades, to early-stage venture capital in India, which he has done for two and a half, to space technology, which he arrived at relatively recently but with a founding position in India's private space industry.

He speaks at conferences in Dubai, India, Europe, and Southeast Asia, and is comfortable on both prepared keynote formats and spontaneous panel discussions. His preference: small enough room that people can ask real questions.

Speaking topics

Brand Strategy & Building Iconic Brands

Why most marketing spend fails to build brand equity, what separates memorable brands from forgettable ones, and the principles behind building something that outlasts its advertising budget.

Digital Marketing & Pay-for-Performance

How Pinstorm pioneered performance-based marketing, what that model means for startups with limited budgets, and why the shift from impressions to outcomes is still incomplete.

Entrepreneurship & Founding Companies

From selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door to launching satellites — what forty years of founding and running companies teaches you about the ones that survive and the ones that don't.

Venture Capital & the Indian Startup Ecosystem

The honest account of early-stage investing in India — what went right with redBus, what went wrong elsewhere, and what the next wave of Indian startups needs to understand about exits.

The Indian Startup Ecosystem

Two decades of watching the Indian startup ecosystem grow from a niche experiment to a global force. What has changed, what has not, and what the next cycle looks like.

Space Technology & Sovereign Space Programs

Why governments are rethinking satellite dependency, what sovereign space infrastructure actually means in practice, and how India's private space sector arrived at its current position.

What makes the talks work

Real stories, not frameworks

The talks draw on events that actually happened — specific decisions, specific outcomes, specific mistakes. Audiences remember stories. They forget slide decks.

Credibility across disciplines

Very few speakers can speak with equal authority on marketing, venture capital, and space technology. Mahesh has operated at the centre of all three, which makes the connections between them visible.

Opinions held openly

He does not present "perspectives" and let the audience decide. He states what he thinks, explains why, and invites challenge. Conferences with real debate are worth attending.
